ACRS submissions and comments on the Representative Areas Program

We cannot undervalue the Great Barrier Reef as one of the world’s most important and amazing ecosystems. The Australian Coral Reef Society totally supports the GBRMPA’s Representative Areas Program as an essential step forward in protecting this environmental treasure.

However, the Society cautions the GBRMPA and State and Commonwealth Governments to continue to pursue other management initiatives addressing fisheries, water quality and global warming issues. It is only by leadership from government that these valuable ecosystems will survive for future generations.
