Fremantle is a vibrant port city situated at the mouth of the Swan River 20km down stream from Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. The city is renowned for its cosmopolitan atmosphere with strong southern European, particularly Italian, influences. Fringed by the Indian Ocean’s beautiful beaches, Fremantle is rich in history, culture and tradition and is renowned as WA's premier tourist destination making it an ideal conference location. Historically, Fremantle was the sea-trade centre for Western Australia and bears remnants of a colourful past in the form of beautiful old heritage buildings, museums, and old relics with a strong maritime theme. Modern times have seen Fremantle and its people develop a diverse culture of wonderful cafes, art galleries, restaurants, bars, leisure areas and maritime facilities.
